The light propagation in the designed PSR when the input field is TE polarization (a), and TM polarization (b). Here the taper lengths are: Ltp1=4 μm, Ltp2=44 μm and Ltp3=Ltp1(w3−w2)/(w1−w0). The other parameters are w0=0.54 μm, w1=0.69 μm, w2=0.83 μm, w3=0.9 μm, wgap=0.15 μm and Ldc=7.0 μm. PSR, polarization splitter–rotator; TE, transverse electric; TM, transverse magnetic.
