(a) Synthesis procedure of the GNR@SiO2@CaF2:Yb3+,Er3+ hybrid nanostructures. CTAB-capped GNRs were oxidized to decrease their aspect ratio and obtain a suitable LSPR wavelength. In the next step, the GNRs were covered with a silica spacer, and the UCNCs were then attached to their surface by electrostatic attraction. (b–e) TEM images of b bare CaF2:Yb3+,Er3+ NCs, c GNR@SiO2 (9 nm) nanostructures, d GNR@SiO2 (35 nm) nanostructures and e GNR@SiO2 (23 nm) @CaF2:Yb3+,Er3+ hybrid nanostructures.
