Oral/lingual CD11b+ macrophage-like cells enhance interferon-γ/interleukin-10 (IFNγ/IL-10) production by T cells in the presence of Pam3CSK4 or R848. IFNγ and IL-10 production were assessed in supernatants from T cells cocultured with CD11b+CD11cMHC-II+ macrophages purified from either oral/lingual or intestinal tissues in the presence or absence of the OVA323–339 peptide with or without Toll-like receptor (TLR) agonists (Pam3CSK4, lipopolysaccharide (LPS), flagellin, or R848) and transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β). Data are compiled from four independent experiments. *P<0.05; **P<0.01.
