TLR4-mutant mice upregulate inflammatory cytokines and chemokines in response to gonococcal infection. Mice were infected as described in the text, and vaginal washes were obtained over time for assay of IL-1β, TNF-α, MIP-2, and KC by custom multiplex assay. Shown above are data pooled from three independent experiments. Each data point represents an individual mouse; n=10–12 for BALB/c, n=11–13 for BALB/c-Lpsd. The horizontal line represents the median value for each time point. Statistics were calculated using a Mann–Whitney U-test, with P-values as follows: *P<0.05; **P<0.01.
