Activated effector memory phenotype of airway luminal T cells elicited by Mycobacterium tuberculosis culture filtrate (CF) in parenteral Bacillus Calmette–Guérin (BCG)-immunized animals. The mice were immunized with BCG for 4 weeks, intranasally inoculated with CF and killed 2 weeks after the second CF as depicted in Figure 3a. The immune phenotype of antigen-specific T cells in the bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL; a) and lung interstitium (b) were analyzed. Data are expressed as mean values±s.e.m. or representative dot plots of 4–5 mice per group, representative of three independent experiments.
