Depletion of B cells delays death of A/J mice following lethal infection of the lungs with the Sterne strain of Bacillus anthracis (BA). (a) A/J mice were injected intraperitoneally (i.p.) with 250 μg of α-CD20 or isotype control (IgG2a) antibody. At day 8 after injection, both groups were challenged with unlabeled BA spores and survival was monitored. (b) Survival of A/J mice given 2–3 × 106 BA spores. Data are representative of 3 independent experiments using 10 mice per group. (c) Survival of mice given 1 × 105 BA spores.
