Representative images of ileal tissue of wt (a) and REG3γ−/− mice (b); and of colon tissue of wt (c) and REG3γ−/− mice (d). MUC2 was detected by immunofluorescence using anti-MUC2 and goat-anti-rabbit Alexa Cy3 antibodies (red). Nuclei were visualized using DRAQ5 (blue). Bacteria were identified using FISH and the universal Euprobe 338 (green). Arrows in panel b indicate bacteria in contact with the epithelium. wt, wild-type.
