(a) Glucose consumption and lactate secretion of HCT116 eGFP microtissues in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) supplemented with 0.5 mM glucose at 37 °C under static culture conditions (sampling rate: 10 Hz). (b) The altered metabolism of a microtissue caused by the replacement of RPMI medium with glucose-free PBS in one of the drops and the recovery of lactate secretion after resupplementing with glucose (green curve). The other drop row on the same polydimethylsiloxan (PDMS) chip hosted a second microtissue (violet curve) and was continuously supplied with RPMI medium as a control.
