Pathologic features of peripheral cholangiocarcinomas. (a) The lobular tumor is located inside the liver parenchyma (mass-forming type). (b) Tumor cells are arranged in an irregularly anastomosing tubular architecture with scant mucin. (c) Some parts show a cholangiolocellular pattern. (d) A hepatoid appearance is focally observed. (e) The expression of SMAD4 is well preserved. (f) Cancer cells are entirely negative for BAP1.
