Long-term pharmacological stimulation of ghrelin receptor activity in the amygdala enhances fear memory. Rats were implanted with bilateral cannulae aimed at the basolateral complex of the amygdala (BLA). The arrow indicates the tip of the injector within a representative coronal brain section. Following recovery, intra-BLA infusions of either MK-0677 (MK-Inf: 5 days (5d)) or artificial cerebrospinal fluid (VEH-Inf: 5d) were administered daily for five consecutive days and, 24 h following the final infusion, (a) auditory fear conditioning was administered.
