(b) Higher magnification images of insets in (a). In saline controls, N-cadherin labels the membranes of the cells in the ependymal and subependymal areas (dashed lines). Immediately after the removal of the pumps (t = 0 h), the SEZ appears enriched in GFAP cells with high levels of N-cadherin (full arrowheads).
