(a) abc-Monomers (1–6) were prepared by ruthenium-catalysed Kharasch addition between alkyl dichloroacetate and styrene derivatives, followed by TiCl4-catalysed allylation of the C–Cl bond adjacent to the styrene unit with allyltrimethylsilane. (b) abcc-Monomers were prepared by double ruthenium-catalysed Kharasch addition between alkyl dichloroacetate with acrylate first and then with styrene, followed by TiCl4-catalysed allylation of the C–Cl bond adjacent to the styrene unit with allyltrimethylsilane.
