BM-ϕ from TLR2−/− mice do not secrete MIP-2, mTNFα or mIL-6 in response to USA300 or the synthetic lipopeptide Pam2CSK4 but respond to LPS stimulation (ac). Expression of both, PSMα and lipopeptides, is necessary to induce MIP-2, mTNFα and mIL-6 in BM- ϕ derived from wild-type mice (dl). Data represent means +/− s.e.m. of at least three independent experiments. ****P<0.0001, significantly different versus USA300 wild-type (dl) as calculated by Student’s t-test.
