A total of 251 iGluR sequences were collected from all three kingdoms of life and the ML tree was constructed as described in the Methods section. Bootstrap support values are shown at the major branches. Taxa and branches are colour coded with bacteria in blue, plants in green, animals in magenta and AvGluR1 and AvGluR2 in purple. A–E are expansions of lists of genes that are too packed to be seen in the branch cartoon. The scale bar refers to evolutionary distance inferred by the RAxML algorithm.
