Individual shear-wave splitting delay times (δt) are plotted versus ray-path distance between the hypocentre and seismic station for the Afar region. White circles show all the stations at which only one splitting measurement is available. Coloured circles show seismic stations from which more than one splitting is available, with each colour denoting a different station. Red measurements are from SRDE and yellow measurements are from KOBE. Green measurements are from BOOE and grey measurements are from ALEE. (a) All new measurements made in this study, and (b) measurements from station ALEE only. Station locations are shown in Figure 1.
