(a,b) Comparison of IHC scoring of pIGF-1R (a) and IGF-1R (b) by histological evaluation of normal, reactive (hyperplastic and squamous metaplastic), and preneoplastic lesions (left) and non-smokers and smokers in patients with NSCLC (right). Box plots show the medians and the 25th and 75th percentiles; the bars give the ranges. Statistical significance of differences was determined with a repeated-measures model. (c) Linear regression analysis was performed to assess the significance of any correlation between the scoring of IGF-1R, IGF1, or IGF2 with the scoring of pIGF-1R in non-smokers (top) and smokers (bottom). The significance of the correlations was evaluated with the Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient; correlations were considered significant when P<0.05.
