(a) For 1/3 filling with V=0, U=0 to 1.0 (U increases from bottom panel up) and Ns=2×4×6 sites; (b) For 1/5 filling with U=1 and V=0 to V=1 and Ns=2×6×5. We have shifted the ground-state energy to zero for comparison. Nearly degenerate GSM and the large gap between GSM and excited states, observed in (a) at large U and (b) at large V indicate the formation of the fractional quantum Hall states.
