THP-1 cells expressing HA-US28 were generated by lentiviral transduction and puromycin selection. (a) Western blots of cell lysates from transduced THP-1 cells against the N-terminal HA tag on HA-US28, control cells were mock transduced. (b) THP-1 cells expressing HA-US28, or control cells, were treated with 5 × 10−8 M F49A-FTP for 48 h. Cell death was quantified by Trypan blue staining. Means and error bars (showing s.d.) were generated from seven independent experiments. Statistical analyses were carried out using a paired two-tailed t-test and ***P=0.001 were considered significant.
