From: Amotl1 mediates sequestration of the Hippo effector Yap1 downstream of Fat4 to restrict heart growth

Fat4 is required to organize cell junctions and sequester Amotl1, preventing excessive heart growth. In the absence of Fat4, Amotl1 is released and, in a complex with Yap1, translocates to the nucleus, bypassing the Hippo kinases. Resulting variations in gene expression promote proliferation and hypertrophy of cardiomyocytes, leading to excessive growth of the myocardium.
