Data are shown of acute DSS exposed WT (n=20) and MMP-9−/− mice (n=20) as well as control WT (n=18) and MMP-9−/− mice (n=21). Pooled data from three replicated acute DSS experiments are shown. Colon/body weight ratio (a), colon length (b) colon weight/length (w/l) ratio (c) and macroscopic damage score (d) were measured in WT and MMP-9−/− mice. Histological activity and inflammation scores (e,f) were performed on H&E stained colon slides (g) in a subset of samples (n=24). Median values are represented and statistical analyses were performed with Mann–Whitney U tests (*P<0.05, **P≤0.01, ***P≤0.001). Scale bars of 200 μm are shown on the microscopic images.
