Read-outs from chronic DSS exposed WT (n=9) and MMP-9−/− mice (n=9), and control WT (n=10) and MMP-9−/− mice (n=5) are shown. Colon/body weight ratio (a), colon length (b) colon weight/length (w/l) ratio (c) and macroscopic damage score (d) were measured in WT and MMP-9−/− mice. Histological activity and inflammation scores (e,f) were performed on H&E stained colon slides (g). Median values are represented and statistical analyses were performed with Mann–Whitney U tests (*P<0.05, **P≤0.01, ***P≤0.001). Scale bars of 200 μm are shown on the microscopic images.
