The densities were generated by contour at 1.0σ using a 2|Fo|-|Fc|map. (a) Part of the gD/nectin-1 interface. Seven residues from HSV-1 gD (I217–F223) and six amino acids of nectin-1 (T63–Q68) are shown in stick representation, and coloured green and cyan, respectively. (b) A seven-residue linker connecting the second and the third Ig-like domains of nectin-1 within the structure of nectin-new. The residues involved are shown in stick and labelled.
