(a) The temperature dependence of the coercive field (filled black circles) and the remanent magnetization (open red circles) extracted from hysteresis loops measured for a 250-Å-thick DyCo5 sample. The magnetization compensation temperature ( T comml_mp DyCo 5 =120 K) is clearly visible at the temperature where the coercive field diverges, whereas the reorientation temperature (TRDyCo5=350 K) is distinguishable as a change of the remanent magnetization. The insets show hysteresis loops below Tcomp, between Tcomp and TR, and above TR. (b) The temperature dependence of the coercive field (filled black circles) and the normalized remanent magnetization (open blue circles) for the FeGd film extracted from the hysteresis loops. In the inset are two representative hysteresis loops measured below and well above the compensation temperature (TcompFeGd=14 K). The external magnetic field was applied perpendicular to the sample surface.
