For a Ta thickness of 0 Å (a) and 2 Å (b), both ferrimagnetic layers reverse together. For 5 Å (c) and 10 Å (d) Ta thicknesses, the magnetizations of FeGd and DyCo5 are partially decoupled. The hysteresis loops of individual layers are shown in (e). The measurements were performed at room temperature. The statistical errors are smaller than the symbol size.
