These images are computer simulations of the resulting optical field at the plane of the input fibre facet and the resulting sample modes (ideally focussed beams) corresponding to different AOD settings. (a) The SLM generates a matrix of optical fields corresponding to a series of sample modes. (b–d) The AOD sequentially aligns individual segments on the fibre core, that results in scanning of the focussed beam along the sample plane (e–g).
