The slip systems for fcc crystals are indicated and the corresponding slip planes and directions given in Table 1. For a compression axis in the [001]–[101]–[111] triangle, the d1 slip system is favoured and resulting lattice rotation is equivalent to rotation of the compression axis towards the [11] direction, indicated by the arrows in the stereographic projection. On the [001]–[101] line, a1 and d1 are equally favourable and there is net rotation towards [101]36. The slip systems, a1 and d1, are illustrated in the right side of the figure.
