Figure 3: Spatial patterns of Wnt1-Cre-labelled cells.

From: Preotic neural crest cells contribute to coronary artery smooth muscle involving endothelin signalling

Figure 3

Frontal sections of hearts from E17.5 Wnt1-Cre/R26R mice at proximal (af) and intermediate (gl) level. Wnt1-Cre-labelled cells are detected by staining for β-galactosidase (β-gal) enzyme activity (ac,gi) and immunoreactivity (df,jl). Boxed areas in a and g are magnified in b and c, and h and i, respectively. Wnt1-Cre-labelled cells converge on the proximal coronary arteries (b,c) and septal branches (h). Co-immunostaining for β-gal and αSMA shows their smooth muscle phenotype in the proximal coronary arteries (df) and septal branches (jl). PV, pulmonary valve; RCA, right coronary artery; LCA, left coronary artery; RV, right ventricle; LV, left ventricle; SB, septal branch; scale bars, 200 (a,g) and 40 μm (df,jl).
