Embryos were examined for the expression of indicated markers at the shield stage by in situ hybridization. (a,b) Overexpression effects of sqt were antagonized by araf overexpression. A group of embryos were shown for each marker (a) and the ratio of affected embryos was shown in (b) with the number of observed embryos indicated (n). The embryos were in dorsal view for gsc and in animal-pole view with dorsal to the right for the other markers. (c,d) Overexpression effects of constitutively active smad2 (casmad2) were inhibited by araf overexpression. The embryos shown in (c) were dorsal views for gsc, animal-pole views with dorsal to the right for eve1 and lateral views for gata5 and sox32. The ratios of affected embryos were shown in (d).
