The carrier density and carrier type (n or p) in both segments can be tuned independently by Vleft and Vright. FP resonances may occur because of reflection at the outer contacts or at an internal n–p (p–n) interface between the two segments. The possible resonant conditions are indicated by colour-coded lines for the respective cases in the middle part.
