(a) Ratio between the two largest magnetic exchange interactions (Jz/J2a). The 1D character of the magnetic structure is first enhanced with pressure (up to 20 GPa) and is then reduced. (b) Pressure dependence of the Néel temperature of CuO. Experimental data (in blue) measured up to 1.8 GPa (ref. 23) are compared with the result of the semi-empirical RPA expression (in red) for quasi-1D antiferromagnets22. The inset provides a zoomed view for pressure values smaller than 3 GPa.
