MAE of CuO calculated for the GS AF1 magnetic structure7 where MAE=E[uvw]–E[010] and E[uvw] is the energy deduced from SO calculations with magnetization along the [uvw] crystallographic direction. (a) The three-dimensional shape of MAE shows that the easy axis of magnetization at 0 GPa is the b axis, that is, [010] direction of the crystallographic cell.
