Image recorded by a JEOL JEM-2100F with an acceleration voltage of 300 kV. Crossed lattice fringes of 0.485 nm (corresponding to (111)) and 0.253 nm (corresponding to (3-11)) at an angle of 29°, corresponding to magnetite, are visible. The pairs of arrows indicate an amorphous layer on the surface of the magnetite particle. The scale bar is 5 nm.
