The sample shown in Fig. 6 was analysed using a JEOL EX-2300. Peaks labelled C and Cu originate from the amorphous carbon substrate and the TEM grid, respectively. No peaks other than that of iron originating from the magnetite were detected, even when the electron beam was focused on other locations in the particles.
