(b) When radiated under a standard laboratory ultraviolet lamp (365 nm), compound 1 emits bright blue light. (c,d) [Ir(ppy)2(bpy)]+- encapsulated samples [Ir(ppy)2(bpy)]+@1 emit bright white (3.5 wt%) and yellow (8.8 wt%) light, respectively, using the same 365 nm ultraviolet lamp.
