In somitic cells, miR-1 serves as a pro-angiogenic modulator by inducing VegfAa expression through repressing SARS expression, whereas miR-206 serves as an anti-angiogenic modulator by directly repressing vegfaa expression. These two pathways control the secreted levels of VegfAa from the somites to regulate angiogenesis.
