(a–c) Female W/T or Itgam^−/− mice (n=3) were given i.n. twice 100 μg HYDby peptide or peptide plus 3 μg LPS. Splenic CD11c⁺ cells isolated 24 h later were: (a) immediately stimulated with PMA/ionomycin for 6 h and the % of IL-6⁺ cells was determined using flow cytometry. The amount of secreted RANTES at 24 h was measured using ELISA; (b) cocultured with Marilyn T cells and the T-cell proliferation was assessed by ³H-thymidine uptake at 48 h.
