The clustering of the data sets from the same locality attests to the dominant control of host-rock strength on dyke thickness, while other parameters such as dyke lithology or geometry are of secondary importance. We suspect that the broader scattering of the La Palma Taburiente data is caused by a wide range of host-rock lithologies (see text for details).
