Azido-dendrimer with nine branches was synthesized by I/N3 substitution from the dendritic core 1,3,5-{C[(CH2)3SiMe2CH2I]3}3-C6H3, G0-CH2I, containing nine terminal iodomethylsilyl. This dendritic precursor was then functionalized with dendron 1 according to ‘click’ reaction to give the dendrimer 5B.
