Data for mayenites are co-plotted with literature data: filled squares for CaO-based compounds³¹; blue open squares for silicate glasses³⁹; grey open squares for some solid salts³⁰; filled circles for binary saline hydrides with alkaline-earth metals⁴⁰, Mg⁴¹ and Li⁴²; open circles for Ca₃LiC₃H (ref. 7) and Ba₈Sb₄OH₂ (ref. 8). Horizontal axes of d_O–H…O and d_M–H were adjusted so that each of the two sets of mayenite data were aligned.
