(a) Schematic showing experimental set-up used to observe the insertion of red-dyed solvent into blue droplets: a two- or three-phase stream of blue-dyed ODE droplets is first generated by flowing ODE/PFPE or ODE/PFPE/Ar through a PTFE conjunction, then a stream of red-dyed ODE (QR2) is injected into the flowing droplets using a T-junction.
