Lines were grown in the presence of (a–c) 1 μM nystatin, (d–f) 2 μM nystatin and (g–i) 4 μM nystatin. Four replicates were measured after 72 h of growth for homozygotes (a,d,g) and heterozygotes (b,e,h) from each line (eight replicates were measured for the wild type (c,f,i)). Compared with the consistent growth of homozygous lines (except BMN23 and BMN35 in 4 μM nystatin, which have the weakest nystatin tolerance), the heterozygous lines typically showed a stochastic pattern with some replicates that grew and some that did not.
