  1. Details of site symmetries, coordinates and occupancies of oxygen, deuterium and carbon atoms in sII CO clathrate hydrate. While 16 small cages (512) are singly occupied, 8 large cages (51264) are doubly occupied. For CO molecules in the two types of cages, we employed a disordered model in that the product of the cage occupancy and the number of Wyckoff positions divided by the cage numbers in a unit cell (16 512 cages and 8 51264 cages) was equal to the number of CO molecules in each cage: one in 512 and two in 51264. The data were collected at 25 K and analysed using the sII structure (space group Fd-3m), yielding Rwp=2.26%, Rp=0.68%, RB=4.83% and a=17.0344(1) Å.
  2. +Denotes the CO molecules in large cages.
  3. Denotes the CO molecules in small cages.
