Triangles and squares show CH4 production after 5 and 30 h, respectively. The initial amounts of reactants were 50 μmol ASC, 4 μmol FH and 100 μmol H2O2, and varying amounts of MET in H2O with a total volume of 1 ml, headspace 360 ml, ambient temperature and ambient atmosphere. Data show mean value s.d. (n=6). Error bars lie within symbols. The pH in the medium was in the range of 2.9–3.1.
