Real and imaginary part of the measured density matrix ρ (coloured bars) compared with expected values ρ+ and ρ−(wire frames) for initial qubit states a (|g›+|e›)(|g›+|e›)/2 and b (|g›+|e›)(|g›−|e›)/2. Experimentally obtained photon state fidelities are F=0.90 and F=0.94, respectively.
