Population data of morphological (a) and Ca2+ changes (b) in contused axons (248 axons, 10 Thy1-TNXXL mice). Axons with initially normal Ca2+ levels were compared with those with immediate elevations after contusion (c, top and bottom, respectively). Similarly, axons were divided into those which had returned Ca2+ levels to normal by 100 min or those that had not (d, top and bottom, respectively).
