Patients were divided into three groups based on their diplotype: those predicted not to produce IFNλ4, those predicted to produce IFNλ4-S70 and those predicted to produce IFNλ4-P70. The latter group included 29 patients (*) with a diplotype encoding both IFNλ4-P70 and IFNλ4-S70. Data represent the proportion of patients infected with all HCV genotypes, who achieved (a) sustained virological response after treatment with pegIFNα/ribavirin or (b) spontaneous clearance. P values were obtained by logistic regression. N=number of patients in a given group.
