(b) Unlike buffer-exposed mice, tc-NE and sc-NE treatment generated a marked airspace enlargement, confirmed by mean chord length (MCL) determination of buffer, sc-NE and tc-NE exposed mouse lungs. Data (mean±s.e.m.) are representative of two independent experiments with n=3 (buffer) and n=4 (sc- or tc-NE). One-way analysis of variance Bonferroni test was applied (**P<0.01, ***P<0.001).
