The 2-PET ligand is omitted for clarity except for one dimeric staple motif. For one 2-PET ligand the bonds relevant for the discussion of the 2-PET conformation are marked (S–C1–C2–C3–C4). Within the staple shown the centre 2-PET molecule adopts an anti conformation around the C1–C2 bond, whereas the other two molecules are in gauche conformation.
