Internal genomic regions with ITS are used as template of ALT in C. elegans ALT survivors. The model illustrates that after divergence from the hypothetical common ancestor, cis-duplication of TALT donor into telomere already occurred independently in nature. After telomeric crisis, the TALT reservoir at a proximal telomere region is used as a template for telomere maintenance.
