(a) Three groups of seven macaques were used: unvaccinated (red); vaccinated with BCG (light blue) and vaccinated with MtbΔsigH (dark blue). (b) Changes (Δ°F) in body temperature; (c) changes in percentage of body weight; (d) changes in serum CRP (μg ml−1) levels; and (e) changes in relative thoracic radiograph (CXR) scores, over the course of the vaccination and infection phases. CXRs were scored in a blinded manner by categorizing between zero and four based on increasing involvement in the granulomatous pathology. *P<0.05, **P<0.01, ***P<0.001, ****P<0.0001 using two-way ANOVA with Tukey’s correction for multiple comparisons. Data are means±s.d. Samples from all seven animals in each group were used for analysis at each time point.
